SPES NOVA LLC, circa 2026
Spes Nova was born from a spiritual calling: to bring hope to those standing at the threshold, reminding them that their inherent worth is not defined by their circumstances.
Legacy
My commitment to serving others was not born out of theory, but out of a profound family legacy. In the early 1980s, my grandfather, attorney Guillermo Gómez Arana, stepped in as director of the Acapantzingo Penitentiary in Morelos, Mexico—an impenetrable bunker behind a 70-year-old iron gate.Rather than viewing it as a place of mere containment, he chose to run the institution with a revolutionary focus on human dignity:>>> *Clearing Legal Backlogs: He worked tirelessly to free individuals who had served their time without a proper sentence.>>> *Restorative Programs: He introduced arts, trades workshops, and trust-based pilot programs.>>> *"El Ángel Blanco": His profound compassion earned him this title among the inmates.Decades later, that exact same engine drives Spes Nova LLC. What my grandfather did intuitively in Acapantzingo, we now organize as a framework of faith, hope, and charity—bringing order to chaos, dignity to isolation, and second chances to those who need them most.
The Team and who we serve
Adriana Sánchez GómezFounder & President, Spes Nova LLC — Pax in Adversis (New Hope---Peace in Times of Adversity)My heart for the marginalized began in my youth, rebuilding shacks in the slums of Cuernavaca. Later in life, having personally experienced homelessness, I gained a deep appreciation for the vital support of faith communities and social services.
Today, that lifelong calling has expanded into active varied mercy work:>>> Foster Care Ministry: Certified in July 2026 to provide a safe, loving home for children in transition.>>> ICE Detention Support: Launching August 2026 at the Lumpkin, GA facility and local detention centers of Barbour County, AL to bring hope, prayer, and human connection to those facing fear and uncertainty at life’s crossroads.>>> Homless Outreach: to bring friendship and support to the marginalized iin our local communities.

In-Kind donations
COMPLETE DONATION & IN-KIND GUIDEThank you for your participation. The support we provide through our ministry includes the distribution of reading materials—such as books, magazines, prayer cards, rosaries, and various other items. When supporting the ICE Detention Center, there are two important aspects to consider:1. The Population: The majority of the population served at the center is mostly, though not exclusively, Latin American and/or of the Catholic faith.
2. Facility Specifications: Strict facility regulations dictate which items are allowed.(Below, we provide a list of approved items that meet these guidelines.)There are two ways you can support our efforts: a) by providing funds, or b) by purchasing and shipping materials directly to our ministry. All materials must be vetted by our staff and the facility chaplaincy, as well as blessed and prepared for donation and delivery at the facilities.---

Option B: In-Kind Donations & Smart Shopping TipsWe love when donors price-shop to maximize every dollar!Whether you find a gently pre-owned copy on platforms like ThriftBooks or a new copy, feel free to hunt for the best deal so we can get more resources into the hands of those who need them most.* The Soft-Cover Rule: All books and reading materials must be soft-cover for the detention center program.
* Note 1: Should you accidentally order a hardcover, no worries! We will happily utilize those materials for our Foster Program or Homeless program instead.
Language Needs* Primary Need: Spanish
* Secondary Needs: English, French, Portuguese, German, Asian and Arabic languages, Russian and Eastern European languages, Native American and African languages, as well as various tribal or indigenous dialects.
* Note 2: Because ICE detention centers house individuals from all over the world, our goal is to provide and have available approved materials in as many languages as possible.
SAMPLES OF APPROVED MATERIALSSamples of Approved Materials We Desperately Need* Catholic Bibles & Bible commentaries (New preferred if possible)
* Catholic Catechisms
* Prayer cards & Prayer books
* Devotionals
* Rosaries (Must be jail-approved; for purchase, please use our provided link only)
* Writing and practice booklets for those learning how to read and write
* Pens (Must be jail-approved; for purchase, please use our provided link only)
* Note 3: Books can be new or gently pre-owned.> Note 4: Detainees receive the books as personal items and are allowed to take them to their home country upon deportation. Thus, your gift is truly a deeply personal blessing to them. Because of this, every few weeks we welcome new detainees with renewed needs—our ministry is an open revolving door. Regular, ongoing support helps us ensure no one arrives empty-handed.A Special Note on Funding for Our Foster & Unhoused Programs
While in-kind donations are wonderful for our detention center ministry, monetary donations are strongly preferred for our Foster and Unhoused programs.Because the ages, genders, and immediate personal needs of foster children and unhoused individuals vary widely, keeping a static inventory is impractical. Giving financial support allows us to purchase exact sizes, items, and urgent supplies precisely when a specific need arises.
PROGRAM DESIGNATIONHow to Designate Your Donation
If you would like your gift to go toward a specific program or cause, please specify your choice using one of the methods below:For Checks: Write the specific program name in the Memo line of your physical check (e.g., "Memo: Foster Program" or "Memo: Unhoused Ministry").For Bill Pay or ACH: Send a quick follow-up email to [email protected] right after initiating your transfer to let us know which program you would like your funds directed toward. If no specific program is noted, your donation will be applied where the need is greatest.

Foster Care Ministry: Joy, Normalcy & Beyond
BRINGING HOPE & DIGNITY TO CHILDREN IN TRANSITION> >> As a newly certified foster parent (certified July 2026), my mission is to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for children entering the foster care system. While basic daily necessities (like food, shelter, and utilities) are covered by standard state stipends, true healing and restoration often happen through the "extras"—the simple everyday joys that allow a child to just be a kid.
HOW YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT FOSTER CHILDREN:>>> School & Birthday Celebrations:
Funding for personalized birthday gifts, back-to-school supplies, backpacks, and special milestone celebrations so every child feels celebrated and cherished.>>> Faith & Life Outings:
Support for summer activities, movie outings, bowling trips, community events, and "Sunday Best" clothing for church services.>>> Enrichment & Pet Care:
Providing funding for therapeutic extras—such as pet supplies and veterinary care if a child is introduced to a family pet—helping build responsibility, comfort, and emotional well-being.>>> Special Holiday Joy:
Creating memorable Christmas and holiday experiences with tailored gifts, warm winter wear, and family traditions.--->>> A Note for Donors: Because placement needs change quickly depending on the age and profile of the child, non-allocated gifts designated for "Foster Care Joy" are kept in a reserved fund to meet immediate, hands-on needs the moment a child arrives.
PRIVACY & DONOR UPDATES POLICY
Protecting Dignity and ConfidentialityWe believe in total transparency with our donors while prioritizing the safety, privacy, and well-being of the children entrusted to our care. In accordance with Department of Human Resources (DHR) regulations and state child welfare privacy laws:Confidentiality First: We will never post photos, names, exact ages, or personal story details of any foster child online or in public updates.General Impact Updates: Donors and supporters will receive broad, generalized updates regarding how funds are utilized (e.g., "Purchased a set of back-to-school clothes and supplies for a middle-schooler," or "Provided therapeutic art supplies and a new bicycle for a recent placement").Receipts & Accountability: Detailed financial reporting for all ministry purchases is maintained internally to ensure full operational transparency while protecting the identities of the children.Thank you for partnering with us to provide a safe, protected, and joyful home for children in transition!
Direct Aid & Human Dignity
ICE DETENTION MINISTRY AND LOCAL DETENTION CENTERS."Bringing hope, spiritual accompaniment, and human connection to those at life’s crossroads."Moving beyond local borders, Spes Nova LLC conducts bi-monthly (every 1–2 months) mission trips to the ICE Detention Facility in Lumpkin, Georgia. Direct Mercy & Field Outreach
"Meeting people where they are—whether behind gates or on the margins of our local streets by bringing hope, hot meals, and unconditional care to those living on the margins."In rural communities and small towns, homelessness is often hidden—individuals living in woods, abandoned structures, or struggling with severe hardship and addiction without access to standard shelters.Spes Nova LLC engages in direct, low-barrier street outreach. Inspired by years of hands-on aid—from providing warm meals and essential supplies to arranging transport for urgent medical care—our goal is simple: to meet people exactly where they are with compassion, zero judgment, and practical relief.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
>>>Mobile Care & Emergency Supplies: Distributing hygiene kits, water, non-perishable food, and seasonal wear directly to unhoused individuals in Barbour County and surrounding areas.+ + Transportation & Medical Assistance: Assisting with rides to local clinics, pharmacy runs for critical medications, and connections to county social services.+ + Spiritual Accompaniment: Offering prayer, warm conversation, and a gentle reminder of their inherent worth to those who feel forgotten by society.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
In-Kind Care Items: Donate non-perishable food, bottled water, hygiene supplies, fuel cards, or phone cards/recharges.>>> Winter Wear: Wool items (avoid cotton, which retains moisture and drains body heat).>>> Summer & Rain Wear: Moisture-wicking/dry-fit clothing and SPF-rated gear for long sun exposure.+++ Outreach Funding: Direct financial contributions help cover fuel costs, emergency food purchases, and urgent prescription co-pays for those in crisis.

Frequently Asked Questions
+ + Q1: Why is Spes Nova structured as an LLC rather than a non-profit (501c3)?A: Spes Nova is currently in its inception stage, founded and operated as a true "one-woman" labor of love. Transitioning to a formal 501(c)(3) non-profit requires a board of directors, complex legal structures, and administrative overhead that exceed my capacity while establishing these core mercy programs.Operating as an LLC allows me to move quickly, respond directly to immediate needs, and focus my time and energy on hands-on outreach. Establishing a non-profit structure remains an active growth goal as our support network, board, and operational scale expand!
-
+ + Q2: How will my donation be used?A: Our immediate goal is to establish a sustainable foundation that allows Spes Nova to operate as a full-time ministry. Contributions first go toward meeting our annual baseline operational goal ($50,000/year), which enables 100% full-time hands-on work. All additional funds directly power our active mercy projects: ICE detention visits, foster family assistance, and direct homeless aid.
-
+ + Q3: Will I get to see photos or specific stories of the individuals or children we help?A: Out of a profound commitment to human dignity—and to strictly comply with Department of Human Resources (DHR) regulations, detention facility confidentiality policies, and the personal privacy needs of those experiencing homelessness—we never share photos, names, or identifying details. Unless explicit, individual permission is granted, every person we serve remains completely protected. Instead, we provide general impact updates showing how your support directly meets needs, ensuring full donor accountability while keeping everyone's privacy 100% secure.
